Procedures for admission to Tavernspite School
If you would like your child(ren) to join Tavernspite School we would advise you to first come and visit the school ideally with your child(ren). Please telephone the school office: 01834 831691 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange an appointment. When you visit the school you will be given a full tour around the school by the Deputy or Headteacher and have the opportunity to see the school in action and ask as many questions as you like. You will also be provided with a copy of the school prospectus and other key documents and told exactly what your child will need to start school and any other information required.
If your child is starting in the Early Years you will be invited to a special information session just before the start date where you will be given all the information required for your child to begin school life. Starting school is a major step for both the children and their parents. We are very mindful of this and take every measure to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible and that parents know absolutely everything they need to.
All admissions are dealt with directly by the Local Education Authority who make the final decision on whether we are able to accommodate your child(ren). Children who reside within the school’s designated catchment area will be always be offered a school place. Parents residing out of catchment who wish to send their child to Tavernspite School will be allocated a place at the discretion of the Local Authority, depending on availability of space. You will need to complete admission application forms and send them to the Admission’s Office at County Hall, Haverfordwest. Forms are available from the school office or can be downloaded from the school website.
Children can start attending school in our Nursery Class for five afternoons a week at the beginning of the term in which they turn four years old.
They can then become full time pupils the term after their fourth birthday. However, entry may be deferred until the child attains statutory school age of 5 years if it is the parent’s wish. Part time children are entitled to school dinner.
Tavernspite Playgroup is held in Tavernspite Village Hall close to the school. Children may start attending the playgroup from the age of two and a half. After joining the school Nursery the children may attend the Playgroup in the mornings and Tavernspite School Nursery in the afternoons. This is called ‘wrap-a-round’ care as the children are cared for all day and may have a school dinner with us.
The school provides a good range of high-quality learning experiences for pupils that enhance their education.
The school's commitment to using the outdoors to improve pupils’ learning and wellbeing is outstanding.
The quality of care, support and guidance is excellent.
